Dave Maino, PE, LEED AP

Collaboration Partner

Dave Maino has led the electrical design for dozens of award winning projects including net zero energy/carbon, AIA COTE Top 10 and LEED Platinum Certified buildings. For over a decade, he has collaborated on electrical system designs for many of the greenest: educational facilities, civic buildings, residences and commercial offices in the United States.  This includes notable award winning projects like the Portola Valley Town Center, the Packard Foundation Headquarters, the Venter Institute and the Sonoma Academy – Janet Durgin Guild and Commons all AIA COTE Top 10 Award winners.

Dave focuses his spare time on his family: his wife is also an engineer and his two daughters are… engineers in training??

During his career, Dave Maino has built upon the collaborative approach encouraged as part of his Architectural Engineering curriculum at Penn State to focus on an integrated whole-building approach to design. Careful collaboration between all disciplines is at the core of his design philosophy. This collaborative approach has led to successes in a wide variety of commercial, public works, educational, residential, and civic projects.

Dave started his career at IDeAs in 2006, and although he has his own practice, he continues to collaborate actively with IDeAs on projects.

Dave’s philosophy is to design deep green and highly efficient electrical, lighting, and low voltage systems that are convenient and easy for owners, building occupants, and maintenance staff to use and interact with. Of critical importance is that the building be usable and flexible for the occupants to allow them the ability to work and enjoy the space without interruption, and as such Dave focuses on understanding the needs of the space, the owner, and the end users.
