Low Voltage and Technology Systems

Telecommunications and Data Networks: The IDeAs team has experience designing structured cabling systems for communications networks, including MDFs, IDFs and passive equipment layout, as well as gigabit copper networks, fiber backbones, UPS backups and WAP layout. Over time these systems have become critical to building operations as they are utilized by EMS/BMS, digital lighting controls, public address systems, cell phones and even fire alarm systems, in addition to telephones and computers.

Fire Detection and Alarm: Our team has experience designing complete fire detection and alarm systems including voice evacuation, voltage drop calculations and battery sizing calculations required for DSA approval in California’s public schools. We also do standard design/build layouts for commercial, civic and multifamily residential applications.

Access Control: Depending on the requirements of a facility, we can provide various levels of access control, starting with basic guest dial up video door entry systems for apartments or traditional employee access card keys to touchless mobile access systems, video surveillance systems and school lockdown systems. For higher security systems we can provide more sophisticated sensors such as biometric fingerprint or iris scanners.

Intrusion Detection: Our team has experience designing security systems including traditional magnetic door and window contacts, glass break detection, pressure sensors, photoelectric beams and motion sensors, as well as autodialers to 24 hour UL Listed remote central station monitoring facilities. We can also integrate video surveillance and digital recording systems, access control and fire alarm systems.

Audio/Visual: In an increasingly wired world, audio and video integration have become critical for communication between collaboration teams. Projectors, flat panel displays, voice lift systems, distance learning and streaming technologies, as well as recording capabilities are critical pieces of a building’s infrastructure. IDeAs can help end-users to determine the proper audio/visual system components required for each project.

Smart Buildings: As new ideas are developed to make buildings more efficient, less carbon intensive, safer and more comfortable, the amount of technology deployed into buildings has exploded. At IDeAs, we actively track innovations in electrical system technologies such as integrated building controls, automatic puzzle lift car stackers, converged data systems, building integrated photovoltaics, adaptively managed car charging, resilient microgrids, smart electrical panels, induction cooktops and heat pump dryers, digital signage, motorized shade controls, parking garage access, V2G charging and use them in our projects when appropriate.
