Photovoltaic, Energy Storage and Microgrid Systems

Photovoltaics: The IDeAs team brings over 15 years of experience on over 100 projects designing photovoltaic systems, including the original IDeAs Headquarters, the first Net Zero Energy/Carbon commercial office in the US, completed in 2007. Project sizes range from a 14 kW array for a Net Zero Energy/Carbon single family home through large projects over a megawatt.

Building Integrated Photovoltaics: BIPV systems often allow PV to be installed in applications where they can serve multiple purposes or replace traditional building materials saving costs, allowing architects to develop solutions that serve as sustainability statements and generate energy for the project. Our team has integrated PV into tiles roofs, standing seam metal roofs, cool roof membranes, shade structures, building facades, window louvers and entry canopies.

Battery Energy Storage: Our team also has experience designing batteries.  We have designed battery energy storage systems (BESS) to minimize demand charges. We can advise clients on the economics of PV’s, and BESS as well as potential financing strategies to consider depending on the organization and the application.

PV/Battery Microgrids: Our team also has experience designing combined PV and battery microgrids. As climate change effects the local weather, Public Safety Power Shutdowns (PSPS) have caused more and longer power outages. We have developed cost effective microgrid designs for various applications providing a green alternative to diesel generators.

Financial Analysis:  We can advise clients on the economics of PV’s, BESS and microgrids, including tax incentives, rebate programs and available financing strategies than may make sense depending on the organization and the application.
